La Critics Choice Association (CCA) a annoncé les nominés dans la catégorie cinéma pour la 28e édition annuelle des Critics Choice Awards. Les gagnants seront révélés lors du gala des Critics Choice Awards animé par Chelsea Handler. Cette spectaculaire remise de prix sera diffusée EN DIRECT sur la chaîne The CW depuis le Fairmont Century Plaza de Los Angeles le dimanche 15 janvier 2023 (de 19 h à 22 h, heure de l’Est, heure de l’Est différée – consultez les programmes locaux).
L’actrice américaine Michelle Yeoh a dirigé « Everything Everywhere All At Once », qui a obtenu 14 nominations au total, dont celles du meilleur film et de la meilleure comédie. Le film a récolté plusieurs nominations d’acteurs, dont celles de la meilleure actrice pour Michelle Yeoh et du meilleur second rôle pour Ke Huy Quan. Jamie Lee Curtis et Stephanie Hsu sont toutes deux en lice pour le prix du meilleur second rôle féminin, et les acteurs ont été nommés pour le prix du meilleur ensemble. Daniel Kwan et Daniel Scheinert ont été nommés dans les catégories Meilleur réalisateur et Meilleur scénario original, tandis que Jason Kisvarday et Kelsi Ephraim ont été nommés dans la catégorie Meilleur design de production, ainsi que Paul Rogers dans la catégorie Meilleur montage et Shirley Kurata dans la catégorie Meilleur design de costumes. Le film a également été nommé dans les catégories « meilleure coiffure et maquillage » et « meilleurs effets visuels ».
Le film « Les Fabelmans » de Steven Spielberg a obtenu 11 nominations. Le réalisateur oscarisé a une nouvelle fois été nommé dans la catégorie Meilleur réalisateur.
La liste des candidats au titre de meilleur film comprend également « Babylon » et « Les Banshees d’Inisherin », qui ont chacun obtenu neuf nominations, ainsi que « Elvis » et « Tár », qui ont obtenu sept nominations chacun. Les autres nominés pour le meilleur film sont « Avatar : La voie de l’eau », « Glass Onion : A Knives Out Mystery », « RRR », « Top Gun : Maverick » et « Women Talking ». Il y a onze nominés pour le meilleur film cette année en raison d’une égalité exacte. De plus, la CCA a élargi la catégorie du meilleur réalisateur pour inclure dix nominés.
La Critics Choice Association est la plus grande organisation de critiques aux États-Unis et au Canada, représentant plus de 600 critiques de médias et journalistes de divertissement. Elle a été créée en 2019 avec la fusion officielle de la Broadcast Film Critics Association et de la Broadcast Television Journalists Association, reconnaissant l’intersection entre le cinéma, la télévision et le contenu en continu.
